Kilimanjaro Route
Lemosho Route
The most scenic western approach with an excellent acclimatization profile and a quieter start.
Route Overview
Why Lemosho Works So Well
Lemosho begins on the western side of Kilimanjaro at Londorossi Gate and gradually climbs across the Shira Plateau. You gain altitude slowly, giving your body more time to adapt before summit night. After Shira 2, the route joins Machame, so you get a remote, scenic start plus the best-established high-altitude camps.

Lemosho vs Machame
Which route should you pick?
Lemosho starts farther west and is quieter in the first days. Machame starts lower in the rainforest and is more direct. If you want maximum acclimatization and scenic variety, Lemosho is the premium choice. If you want a slightly shorter itinerary with a classic rainforest start, Machame is excellent.
